Check if Source Available

Now we are going to check if the Generic Source has already been created in Family Historian. The Family Historian cursor would now be at the end of the Baptism Place field, and we need to open up the Source and Citation pane. Mine is docked to the right of the Property Box, but yours could still be at the bottom, and that should not make any difference to the next commands.

On the next line type # open the Source Citation window and enter the source name
On the next line type {slow}
On the next line type {Ctrl+U}{Ctrl+I}{down}{enter}{Ctrl+D}
The above line commands inside the {}can be in UPPERCASE, Mixed Case, or all lowercase, ORA will understand them all.
The {Ctrl+U} moves the cursor from the baptism place field to the Source/Citaion pane; The {Ctrl+I} sets it in insert mode; {down} the Cite Existing Source and {enter} selects it, and the {Ctrl+D} stops at the the first Filter input box waiting for an entry of the Source Name.

We are now going to check if a Source called England, Middlesex Parish Registers, 1539-1988 exists in your list of sources.

Back to the ORA Settings Auto Type Template..
On the next line type # enter the source name
On the next line type <[Source.Title]|[Source.Collection]>
Your Autotype template should now look lie this:

You can now also actually run the template to see what it does, and we will check on the result. Go back to the website tab, click the refresh button on the top left above the 1 button, and this will refresh the Control Panel
Make sure you have cleared out the Born date, etc on Matilda's Family Historian Page. The easiest way to do this is to click on her Facts tab in the property box, and delete both items:

Now click on her Name on the Main tab in Family Historian and then Click the 1 button on the ORA Control Panel. If we get a result like this:

that shows the Source in the Source Records window, then you can skip the following paragraphs and Click on the blue Next at the bottom of the screen to continue.

If we get a result that does NOT shown anything in the Source Records window:

then click on the New Button at the bottom of that screen to create the Source.
Select Add New Generic Source, click the OK on the pop up.

The Family Historian focus-point cursor will be in the Title: input row.
Now to save making errors, go back to the ORA Control Panel on the browser and look down the fieelds on the left hand side until you see one in the Source Section, called Collection

Click on the 'Copy' icon, then go back to Family Historian and the newly opened Source pane record, and in the Title: input row, Paste. (Ctrl=V) or right click your mouse and select Paste.

Optionally, you can manually type in details for the Source section now, or do it later.
You can now close that Source Citation window, by clicking the X on its top right, goto Matlida's Facts page, highlight and delete the two facts that are there.

We now have a Generic Source for our next section.
